【非譯註】

1. 這首歌詞的分段甚至分行都很混亂，網路上的資料莫衷一是，包括 Rodriguez 官網的歌詞文字檔和當年唱片封套的圖片檔。這混亂跟整首歌糾纏的旋律和跳躍的意象也有關。這邊的分段分行是我自己的斷句，基於個人理解－－大致來說就是盡量不切分，否則這一連串超現實的夢般場景切換起來會非常零碎－－當然也是一種武斷。

2. 歌詞中提到的人名顯然是杜撰，Rodriguez 在一篇訪談裡也這樣表示。這類虛擬人名還蠻常在他的歌裡出現，譯文會斟酌處理，大家就不用忙著問他們是誰了。

親愛的 Sugar Man

關於《尋找甜秘客》（Searching for Sugar Man）這部片子，我其實什麼都無法說也其實說什麼都嫌太多。總之非常慶幸我沒有錯過它否則完全不能原諒自己啊！

但有一點可以說也必須說的是，影片的中文字幕翻譯相當糟糕，不管歌詞還是訪談內容都錯很多而且有些錯很大，後者當然影響觀眾的理解（甚至弄擰或完全扭曲受訪者的意思），至於前者……嗯，怎麼說，詩的兩大敵人大概就是錯字和誤譯吧（笑）。幾年前洗手不幹翻譯退出江湖（？）之際我曾經撂話「要我重作馮婦除非 Angela Carter 死而復活」，不過為 Rodriguez 出爾反爾食言而肥（並且違反向來原則地做白工）我毫無愧色哈哈哈。

這首應該會是一系列嘗試的開始。關於翻譯實務，我有很多細節的考慮和堅持，不過這邊就不多講了，萬一有機會或有需要再說吧。
